TERRITORY

SAN GIUSEPPE JATO

San Giuseppe Jato is located on the northwestern coast of Sicily. To be more precise, the municipality is located inland from the Metropolitan City of Palermo.

It is located at the foot of Mount Jato, in a hilly area overlooking the Belice Valley and the Palermo golden basin.

Distance from the sea: Although it is not on the sea, it is very close to the Tyrrhenian coast (about 20-30 minutes by car from the Gulf of Castellammare).

Climate and territory: It is a predominantly agricultural area, famous for its vineyards and for the important archaeological area of Monte Jato , which bears witness to very ancient settlements (Elymian, Greek and Roman).

FEOTTO MORTILLI DISTRICT

The specific characteristics of this terroir were already known in pre-Roman times: on the top of Mount Jato, in fact, there was a rich Jatina colony that cultivated

vineyards and from them he drew the precious wine.

The vineyards are cultivated according to the teachings of Grandfather Giuseppe, respecting the lunar phases and ancient conservative pruning techniques, following the delicate natural balance of the plants' biological cycles;

no chemical fertilizers or manures, only the field bean which allows the soil to be naturally enriched with organic matter through green manure.

The property extends over an area of 20 hectares with altitudes ranging from 400 to 700 meters above sea level.

The choice of organic farming and an increasingly sustainable approach, the increasingly precise definition of a style that favors finesse and elegance, as well as authenticity and personality, sculpts the face of the Todaro winery.

"For us, the San Giuseppe Jato area and the Alta Valle dello Jato represent a unique mosaic of history and nature, where the deep, rich clay soils hold the secret to an excellent winemaking vocation. It is in these lands that the strength of the raw materials is transformed into the elegance of the glass."

Joseph Todaro.

Today, we honor this legacy by carefully cultivating the Sicilian heartbeat through our native grape varieties— Grillo, Nero d'Avola, Catarratto , and the prized Perricone —harmonizing them with the international character of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot . Each row of vines speaks to our commitment to translating the richness of the soil into wines of refined quality.
