The company extends into the hills. The soil is of the medium-textured type with a notable presence of skeleton, well ventilated and fresh. The texture is clayey, with a sub-alkaline reaction, with a good structure, on average provided with limestone, humus and nitrogen, rich in assimilable potassium, fairly equipped with total phosphoric anhydride.

We are exposed to the south in the high hills at an altitude ranging from 380 meters in the area adjacent to the Jato river up to 450 meters. The company has been certified “organic” by Suolo e Salute since 2002.

The espalier training system with a planting density of 4,400 plants / ha.

The production of the plants is adjusted by manual thinning, in order to obtain low yields per hectare.

The harvest takes place strictly by hand for the production of the crus, in wooden boxes transported by means of controlled temperature. For the remaining production, the grapes are always harvested by hand and transported in stainless steel crates with a maximum capacity of 40 quintals in order to avoid crushing of the grapes and the start of fermentation.

Located in the mountains, at a height between 700 and 850 meters with a gradient ranging from 1% to 8% and prevalent exposure to the North-West. Given the altitude during the vegetative period, there is a significant temperature range between day and night.

The soils show a reaction that is always sub-alkaline and the percentage of clay varies between 20% and 25%. Humus and nitrogen are present in good quantities and are on average provided with phosphorus and rich in assimilable potassium.

Furthermore, they are soils with a great productive potential, with a certain amount of skeleton that makes the soil fresh, all to a considerable advantage for plants.

The training system is espalier with guyot pruning at different planting densities: 3,300, 4,000 and 4,400 plants / ha.

The rootstocks used are: 1103 P, 779 R, 140 Ru depending on the characteristics of the grafted cultivar.

The production of plants, already low since these are vineyards without irrigation support, is further adjusted by manual thinning, so as to obtain low yields per hectare.

Cultivar: in the old plants there is Catarratto, Merlot and Chardonnay.

Planting year: the oldest are relative to 1994; then in 2001 and 2004.

We are in the hills between 380 and 470 meters with an average gradient ranging from 3% to 10%.

The soils have good fertility and texture, with a percentage of clay between 25% and 30%, and with a considerable presence of skeleton that keeps them permeable and fresh. The reaction is sub-alkaline, humus is always present in good quantities, nitrogen lacks and the same can be said for assimilable phosphorus. On the contrary, however, they are on average provided with total phosphorus and rich in assimilable potassium.

The training system: espalier with guyot pruning with a planting density of 4,400 plants / ha.

The rootstocks used are: 1103 P and 779 R.

Cultivars: Grillo, Nero d’Avola, Perricone, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

Planting year: 2001.

The production of the plants is adjusted by manual thinning, so as to obtain low yields per hectare.

The average production is around 50-60 hl / ha.
